Medscape is a part of the WebMD Health Professional Network. This website offers health professionals timely, relevant and comprehensive medical information with the mission of improving patient care.
Website offers a wide variety of credible health information on healthy living, diseases, emergency preparedness, injury and violence prevention, food safety, environmental health, travelers’ health information, and workplace safety. Information geared to the needs of individuals, public health professionals and health care providers. Information is available in Spanish and other languages, as well as in English. Mayo Clinic Medical Information Mayo Clinic is the world’s first and largest not-for-profit medical clinic. A part of the Mayo Clinic’s mission is to serve as a reliable source of health information. Website provides information and tools on the management on diseases and conditions, drugs and supplements, and healthy living. Also provided is information on drugs and supplements and a drug watch archive, as well as information on complementary and alternative medicine. Information is in English only. Medline Plus
This is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine and the National Institute of Health that offers authoritative and up-to-date information on more than 740 diseases and health conditions for health professionals and consumers. The website provides information on prescription and over-the-counter medicines, herbs and supplements. It also offers an illustrated medical encyclopedia and interactive tutorials. Some information is also offered in Spanish. eMedicineHealth Owned and operated by WebMD, this website provides articles on health written by physicians for patients and the general public. Articles address issues on 80 plus topics, including first aid and emergencies, medical issues, lifestyle and wellness. eMedicine.com Owned and operated by WebMD, this website is a clinical knowledge database, containing over 6,500 articles on diseases and disorders written by physicians for physicians and other healthcare professionals.
This website was established by cancer specialists from the University of Pennsylvania who wanted to provide cancer patients, families, health care professionals and the general public with accurate and up-to-date cancer-related information at no charge. Oncolink offers comprehensive information about specific types of cancer, updates on cancer treatments and news about research advances. Also offers online continuing education opportunities for nurses. Oncolink en español is an excellent website on cancer-related topics for the Spanish-speaking population
This is a consumer-oriented website providing health information for the whole family that is produced by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Topics include health conditions A to Z, over-the-counter meds, and the special health issues of women, men, children and seniors. Information is also available in Spanish.
This website provides information on all aspects of mental illness: treatment, recovery, research and public policy.
The Alzheimer’s Association is a leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and resources. The website offers a variety of services for patients and families living with Alzheimer’s disease, including information booklets, in English and in Spanish, which may be downloaded and printed, on all aspects of the disease, treatment and care giving. Education Program Clinical practice tools and patient education materials on diabetes, designed for use by school personnel and business, as well as health professionals, are available to download from this website. Information is also available in Spanish. Texas Diabetes
